As our economy shifts to meet the needs of a changing world, new skills are needed in our workforce. Opportunities for employment are growing in the areas of energy and sustainability, and ETS has been at the forefront of developing programming to meet this need.

NYSERDA Home Performance with Energy Star

Working in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and Hudson Valley Community College’s Center for Energy Efficiency and Building Science (CEEBS), ETS has developed courses that train building performance professionals. These courses, originally developed for use in New York State and designed to support candidates for Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification, are now being utilized nationwide. Our work in this area includes the design and construction of full-scale weatherization training labs, as well as the design of smaller, table-top props that teach basic building science principles. Through a partnership with the National Energy Education Development Project (NEED), we are now bringing these concepts to middle and high school students as well, charting a pathway to these growing career fields.

We are also proud to partner with the following New York City organizations to provide GPRO and other green building training courses:

  • 32BJ SEIU

  • Sustainable South Bronx

  • Urban Green

ETS collaborated with Ross Energy, LLC to create the Top Ops Program, a program designed for multifamily and commercial buildings. By providing training, we improve the skills needed for essential daily building operations. For more details, be sure to check out Top Ops on our website.
