Hudson Valley Community College

When Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) won a bid to develop home performance courses for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) their partnership with ETS was a major part of their success. Teaming with HVCC’s Center for Energy Efficient Building Science (CEEBS), ETS developed a suite of courses that have been used to train thousands of students in home energy analysis and weatherization skills and to prepare them for certification by the Building Performance Institute (BPI). In fact, the success of these courses has led to their adoption by workforce development programs nationwide.

I considered the ETS team an integral development partner who consistently provided creativity in workforce curriculum design and delivery, reliability with time commitments, and the ability to meet our overall expectations. The ETS team worked with the program trainers to develop highly successful building science training products and hands-on labs that are now used nationwide to prepare students for Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification.

SUNY Cobleskill

In 2002, State University of New York (SUNY) at Cobleskill made large-scale infrastructure improvements to increase energy and water efficiency on campus. As part of the effort, Energy Training Solutions provided energy management programming with an innovative approach. In addition to training staff and faculty, we also trained resident hall advisors (RAs) to provide energy education in their buildings. These RAs provided one-on-one education to over 95% of student residents on campus while also asking them to commit to specific energy and water saving actions. The success of the program is demonstrated by the 2%-5% savings achieved on campus during the program period.

We’ve worked with ETS for many years and have always been impressed with their responsiveness and the quality of their programs. At SUNY Cobleskill, we guaranteed savings for the ETS peer education program and those savings were realized through an approach that included training student educators and providing workshops for staff.

Boston Housing Authority

ETS has been able to meet the challenges associated with working within a large Public Housing Authority: cultural & language diversity, coordination and logistical challenges related to implementing the program across numerous developments scattered across the entire city.

The ETS trainers really connect with our residents and are effective at communicating with them about ways to save energy and water in their apartments. ETS has been flexible and sensitive to our specific needs, customizing programming and integrating with our Healthy Homes initiative. They really understand what it takes to put together a successful, large-scale program.

Ameresco

It’s a very important part of work at a housing authority to have a partner like ETS that can take on project management roles for me because I don’t have time to meet a lot of residents, or check every installation in every apartment when there are thousands of them. ETS has the ability to field manpower with the right set of skills.
